How to open and close modules

When you log in to the desktop version of the Vitalware application the Command Center displays. The Command Center is a collection of buttons providing you with access to the modules and utilities that you have been authorized to access: it only includes buttons for modules that you have been given permission to access.

From the Command Center it is possible to open and close any number of modules, including multiple copies of the same module.

  1. Click a module button in the Command Center:

    The moduleClosedA place (a database table) where closely related information is stored. For example, the Parties module stores information about people or organisations with an association of some sort with your institution. opens.

    Select Window>New from the Menu bar of any open module window.

    A drop list of available modules will display:

  2. Select the name of the module you wish to open.

    The second module window will display in front of any other open module.

    Tip: To have two or more copies of the same module open (e.g. two copies of the Parties module), use the Window>New method or CTRL+CLICK the module button in the Command Center.

To close a module:

  1. Either click Close button in the far right of its Title bar

    -OR-

    Select File>Close from the Menu bar.

To close all open modules:

  1. Click Command Centre Exit button in the Command Center

    -OR-

    Click Close button in the top right corner of the Command Center.

    If you have made changes to a record and not saved it, the following warning message will display:

    In this case you would click

    • Yes to save the changes and exit Vitalware.
    • No to exit Vitalware without saving the changes.
    • Cancel to return to Vitalware.
